The easiest way to install VIDAT is by viewing our website on your laptop/desktop
You will need your Android phone (iPhones not yet supported)
You will also need access to a printer during the sign-up process!
We recommend you use Chrome for this installation.
Side-Loading the VIDAT App
Since VIDAT is still in the development phase, we're not yet listed in the Google Play Store. As such, in order to use the app you'll need to execute what's called a "side-load," which is an accepted way to load apps onto Android phones. You'll simply need to "allow" the app to be side-loaded by applying the listed settings when prompted during the installation.
Scan QR Code
Scan this QR Code -->
(Open your camera, scan code)
"File might be harmful" - Tap Download anyway
(After download complete) - Tap Open
"Do you want to install this app?" - Tap INSTALL
"Blocked by Play Protect" (VIDAT) - Tap INSTALL ANYWAY
"App installed" - Tap OPEN
After scanning the QR code you'll see the following prompts, as the installation progresses. Please select the indicated responses.
Critical Battery Settings
In order for VIDAT to track your location on your Android device, it is critical that the functions associated with restricting/controlling battery performance while using VIDAT be turned off, otherwise the GPS coordinates required for VIDAT to properly track your rides/mileage will be restricted by your phone.
Ride milage calculations will NOT be accurate unless your phone sends prompt GPS coordinate updates; the frequency of these GPS captures is determined by these settings on your device, NOT by the VIDAT app.
If the suggested paths (to access these functions) are not helpful (different model phones, different menus) then try to locate and disable any "battery saving" functions you can find, or contact us for help.
Addressing these settings should ensure your phone sends the needed GPS coordinates; if your ride mileage is not accurate, please contact us and we'll help resolve the issue(s). The accuracy of mileage calculations is completely tied to these settings on your device.
